MIDEST | The global show for all industrial subcontracting know-how | 6th to 9th December 2016 | Paris Nord Villepinte - France

New sectors in 2015

Additive Manufacturing

Why have an ‘Additive Manufacturing’ sector at MIDEST?

Because this is a sector that is relevant to materials of all kinds…
• Plastics and composite materials
• Metals
• Ceramics
• Glass
• Paper…
… in all their forms:
• Powders
• Sheets
• Liquids
• Wires and fibres…

The advantages of additive manufacturing:

This is a rupture technology in the field of industrial production that offers substantial productivity gains:
• shortened timescales for validating concepts by design offices and manufacturing facilities,
• faster production of standard parts with the ability to integrate specific features at reduced cost,
• no more loss of material during manufacture,
• reduction in fixed costs: no need for moulds, no requirement for a prototype, more testing possible (functional, durability, regulations, etc.), resulting in a part that meets requirements more rapidly.
• lower transport and handling costs,
• a number of patents are in the public domain.

Additive manufacturing allows the limits of creation to be pushed back, since complex, high added value parts can be created in various materials.
Virtually unlimited application markets.

Technical Textiles

Why have a ‘Technical Textiles’ sector at MIDEST?

Because it is a sector driving innovation forwards that complements other sectors at the show (processing of composite materials, surface treatment, 3D printing) and there is very broad and varied scope for the application of technical textiles:
• Agriculture
• Clothing
• Construction
• Environment
• Fittings
• Geotextiles
• Industry
• Medical
• Packaging
• Personal protection
• Sports and leisure
• Transport

The technical textiles sector gathers companies specialized in:

• 3D technology
• Braiding / Cordage / Cord
• Cutting out / Fashioning / Gathering
• Fibers and non woven
• Finishing / Coating / Soaking
• Lamination
• Ribbons / Webbing
• Spinning / Braiding / Waiving / Knitting
• Transformation of yarns (throwing, twisting, texturing)
• Other technical textiles…
